A Kinder Future in Every Stitch
As someone deeply committed to making mindful choices, I truly believe that it’s possible to create products with great care. And as a designer and business owner of Joan’s Bags, I know that the decisions we make as a company, no matter how small, leave an impact on the world. That’s why I’ve embraced sustainability by using vegan leather as an alternative to traditional leather, helping reduce harm to the environment and prevent animal abuse.
Premium Design, Thoughtful Choices
I once believed nothing could replace the timeless feel of traditional leather in my handcrafted bags. But when I uncovered how the leather industry work, I could no longer ignore the hidden cost behind.
That’s when I embraced vegan leather, crafted from blends like polyurethane (PU) and recycled fibers, materials proven to be far gentler on the environment, requiring no animal farming and far fewer natural resources.
Unlike traditional leather, vegan leather is 100% waterproof, resistant to tearing and fading, and won’t develop mold over time. It needs little maintenance, feels every bit as luxurious, and lasts beautifully. Most importantly, no animals are harmed in bringing these designs to life.

Creating a Legacy They Deserve
As I prepare to retire and close this chapter of my journey, I often picture my grandchildren growing up in a safer, greener world. That vision inspired me to transform my craft, working only with materials that honor the planet while still showcasing the detail and care I’ve poured into every stitch.
Yet, I’ve kept five of my most cherished leather designs, a nod to where it all began and its legacy. This closing sale is more than an ending; it’s an invitation to carry forward a story, one that blends timeless craftsmanship with sustainable innovation, built to last, effortless to care for, and kind to the planet.
